Women’s Health Issues - Racism, Sexism, and Cultural Issues
Number of pages:
10
ABSTRACT:
This 10 page report discusses women’s health issues and the impact of racism, sexism and socio-economic status. Numerous health areas – whether in quality of care, delivery of service, accurate diagnosis -- have proven to be equally discriminatory for women in terms of treatment options or actually, lack of options. Minority women, in general, face a greater number of health risks, experience higher rates of chronic diseases, and have shorter life expectancies than white women. The health of minority women may be further compromised by high poverty rates, lack of education, and limited access to health care.
